St- Rémy History

1886 – Phylloxera strikes the vineyards of the SW of France. Emile Renaud creates the "St- Rémy – Veuve Seguin" company in Machecoul near Nantes. All the conditions required for making ST- RÉMY successful are reunited thanks to the proximity of the Nantais vineyard producing quality wines ideal for distilling and the Port of Nantes (on the Atlantic) permitting easy export organisation.

1886-1991 – St- Rémy gains ground on the international brandy market and locally selling a "Fine de Bretagne" in the west of France in addition to its famous Napoleon quality reserved for export.

1991 – Creation of the Rémy Cointreau Group

2002 – The bottling of St- Rémy is moved to Angers on the Loire River.

2007 – St- Rémy dominates the French brandy market and underlines its guaranteed authentic French

Who was St Remy ?

St Remy was the Archbishop of Reims who baptised Clovis 1st, the first King of the French in 459 AD. The Kingdom of France was multiplied by three during the thirty years of reign of Clovis covering approximately all of the current territory of France as we know it today. ST REMY was therefore at the forefront of the foundation of modern day France.

Whatever their origin, consumers all tell us the same story, St- Rémy Authentic French Brandy has that specific nose and taste which is the reflection of years of savoir-faire and excellence which only French authenticity can guarantee.
