Chris Mason, Managing Director at First Drinks is the official 2010 chair for The Benevolent.

 

 

What is the Benevolent?
The Benevolent was founded in 1886 to make a real difference to the daily lives of those who have worked in the Drinks Industry and now need help.

 

Today, The Benevolent helps more than 500 people from across the Industry, providing one off or regular financial grants, sheltered accommodation, care home facilities, advice, support and friendship.

Who Do They Help?

Any person (or their partner) who has worked in the Drinks Industry: shops, pubs, breweries, distilleries, warehouses or office, for more than five years and now needs help -young, old, retired, ill, disabled, pensioners or people who are in unfortunate circumstances.

 

They help a large range of people, who for whatever reason are now in a position where they need support and financial assistance. The help we provide really does make a difference to the lives of others.

 

Ways they help

 

- 600 grants totalling more than £300,000 are given every year

- 50 people receive £15 per week regularly

- One-off grants for vital and emergency needs

- Christmas gifts and television licences

- Personal welfare support and advice  

 

They also help with:

 

- Sheltered accommodation

- 27 bungalows at The Vintry Home, Eastbourne

- Vintry Care Home - 17 beds offering high standards of accommodation and care

- They also operate 11 bungalows on a shared site with Anchor Trust, at Chorley, Lancashire
